Technicalities
So I found out that I got into school on a technicality, My application was processed by the school of economics and then the lady who was supposed to pass it to the Drucker school went out of town for a week. since I was on early admission decision timeline the Buisness school never interviewed me, nor saw my transcript, In fact the admission coordinator told me that she was just informed that I was accepted. The deadline to make all rejections passed, so having my application not denied, told her that I was accepted. She processed me for acceptance, and then I got some letters congradulating me.
Anywhoo it totally turns out that I got in to school by the grace of God, since apparently he wants me her bad enough to pass on some clerical errors in your favor (like monopoly) So now I feel that I have this Devine mission to attend and that I can do no wrong, since well God brought me here for a reason. Today I was taught a lesson of humility.
I attended Econ 313 today for the second time and received a test i had taken the previous session, i got 10 out of 50. Ummm not so good for a guy who wants all A’s, well as it turns out it’s not a terrible thing, its not for credit, its an assessment of what about economics you know. well I know a bit and am here to learn more, turns out this is not a great place for that.
After class I talk to the professor about my score and explain my economic backround which formally consisted of 2 classes each 10 weeks long, and none of the propper mathmatics. He tells me straight up to unenroll, and that I need to go back to college take 3 or 4 more economics courses, then finish a math sequence then come back to his class. Then he tells me to get the economics for idiots with a yellow cover, and start learning.
He is nice about this, but it did seem kind of shocking, I was admitted to the program, how could I be unbelievably unquallified even to take the basic course. The dean of the department had told me that I would be able to do this, he recommended the course, and said that math and formal economic education were not an issue.
The blow is devastating to the mindset of ” God has placed me here so surely he wants me to suceed”. Well it turns out I can fail and did in a big way. the score stands Econ 307 Remedial Economics math taught by a current student of the schools with a total of 3 enrolled pupils (2 from polotics and myself), you dont even get course track credit for it, Econ 313 (soon to be dropped, after being summerially kicked out by the professor)
School can be a harsh place in the first few days, good thing I have a positive attitude, and realize that my stregnth lies soley in my tenacity…
